Hey Ivy, I’m sorry but I’m going to have to agree with Daisy on this one. Transvestite and transsexual are two completely different things. I always love reading your posts, but the tone of this one really came off as ignorant. By you repeatedly referring to this person with a male pronoun completely overlooks the fact that this person clearly identifies as a woman. Just because someone is born with male sexual organs doesn’t necessarily mean they will identify with the male gender. With all the research coming out on gender dysphoria, it’s become apparent that the chromosomal sex (XX for females, XY for males) is disjointed from gender, i.e. “I know I’m a woman (or man) on the inside.”

I could get into the science (hormones, physiological and biological embryonic development) in a detailed post, but then it would be too long. If you’re going to make fun of this person for being over the top, then yeah, by all means. However, if you’re going to ridicule them for having undergone an alleged sex re-assignment surgery for the sole purpose of looking like Haifa Wehbe, while completely dismissing the potential psychological duress of being born as male but feeling like female on the inside, then I’m incredibly disappointed.

Transvestite and transsexual mean two completely different things. Someone who has undergone sex reassignment surgery is NOT a transvestite and should be referred to by their preferred pronoun (which may be “she” in this case). A transvestite is someone who wears the clothing of the opposite sex, but still they would not identify as being the opposite sex. You can’t use the terms interchangeably for the same person.
