Parking problems in Beirut

[YouTube]
It’s funny how a Valet Parking Service turned out to be the solution. Just wait a couple of months and the Valet will start booking spots for the restaurant just like they do everywhere else and the problem will get bigger.

Fiat Panda Abarth

[High-Res] It looks more like a Lada Niva than a FIAT
Only one model was produced in the whole world and it’s in Lebanon. Jokes aside, the Fiat Punto Abarth and 500 Abarth are awesome cars.

A Massive Attack of Paradise Circus [3 Beautiful Downloadable Versions]

I love music. I especially love electronic music. In fact, I’d go as far as saying I only love electronic music. Some songs, they stick. Others, they’re interchangeable melanges of beautiful sounds that come together on the 1s and 2s or laptops live at a club. Some tracks though, stay with you. It’s hard to shake them off and we all have a handful which we can listen to always and probably forever.
In the past few years, one track has particularly stuck with me and its remixes even more so. Usually, tracks I worship don’t mix well with other folks. These 3 though, have made believers out of the biggest deniers of the magic of electronic music. That’s why, I’m sharing them with you all, in hopes they’ll be soundtracks to parts of your lives, for better or for worse.

What Should I Ask Sir Richard Branson?

I leaked Virgin Radio Lebanon long before anyone had even heard of the plans. Many of you have gotten in touch to see if they’re hiring and I was happy that so many readers of this blog got a chance to be part of this new radio station.

سفر برلك > Inta 7urr

I think we can easily say سفر برلك has generated more positive and funny comments tonight than all of the Inta 7urr episodes combined. I don’t know what happened between MTV and Joe Maalouf but based on what I’ve read, it got pretty ugly. In fact and if this story turns out to be true, Maalouf and his crew were kicked out of the studios by the security personnel at MTV and asked not to come back.
To be honest, I didn’t like the way things ended and I hope they keep the show as the idea behind it is really nice, but give it a try with another host.

Did independent candidates win the elections?

Nadine Moussa, left, is one of 49 candidates who claim to have won a parliamentary seat by default.

Parliamentary elections are not expected to take place until later this summer--if then-- but dozens of independent candidates are already declaring victory.
This is because the raging dispute over the country's electoral law has left a curious loophole in the electoral process, where legal experts and independent candidates are claiming a series of wins by default.

Some northern thieves must have a sweet tooth!

mm
According to Naharnet, a truck loaded with sweets worth around $15,000 was robbed by unknown thieves on Sunday night in Akkar.
Thieves robbed on Sunday night a van loaded with candies and sweets in the town of Zouk Halba in the northern region of Akkar, reported the National News Agency Monday.
It said that the van was loaded with almost 15,000 dollars worth of sweets upon the robbery.
It was later found on the side of a main highway in Akkar devoid of its products.

MET Gala 2013 Best and Worst Dressed

Christina Ricci looked perfect in plaid in this creation by quirky Vivienne Westwood, I loved the way the strapless gown flapped on her chest and the strappy heels. I also loved that she completed her look with orange lips rather than the typical red. She killed it last year in her bow tie dress and this year too!

With the help of fashion genius Dame Vivienne Westwood will be redesigning the legendary Virgin Atlantic’s red uniform. Meeting Sir Richard Branson

As mentioned in previous posts, Virgin Radio Lebanon is set to open on the 15th of May officially and Sir Richard Branson, founder and chairman of Virgin Group, is coming personally for the grand opening.
Having said that, I will be among the lucky few to meet Branson a day before and ask him few questions. I still haven’t prepared my questions yet as it’s not easy to address someone like Branson but I am looking forward to it.

touch’s 3G consumption glitch

touch 3g consumption
I just noticed many people are complaining about incorrect readings they’re getting for their 3G usage  following the upgrade that touch did for their plans.

Kaak kaak!

To my knowledge, there’s some order to all security forces forbidding them from using small motorbikes when wearing their uniform, to stop giving a bad image about them to the society. It’s about time it gets enforced because this guy is taking it a bit further!

The reason why Lebanese football is miserably failing

I’m not sure when was this video taken, but it pretty much explains why Lebanese football and sports in general is failing miserably. The video shows the Nejmeh Sporting Club fans chanting for their team then suddenly cheering for Syria and Bashar El Assad proving one more time that every sports club in this country is destined to be associated with a certain political view, political party, sect, etc…
This by the way kind of reminds me of the golden days of Lebanese basketball when Riyadi’s crowd (mainly muslims) used to chant for Syria while Sagesse’s crowd used to chant for USA! And I would never be surprised if Lebanese fans of European football teams get divided following their sects and parties one day.

The Weekly Leaks: Patricia Kaas Live At Beiteddine Festival

I got wind of this while digging into the international festival scene this summer, and wasn’t 100% sure it’s leak-worthy. But, after consulting several of my Frenchie friends, I realize now that Patricia Kaas is in fact a big deal (Even I know one of her songs, Mon Mec a Moi)

Silicon Valley Trip Round-Up

As many of you may already know if you follow me on Twitter and Instagram, I toured several major tech and web companies with Lebanese telecom minister Nicolas Sehanoui and two of his advisors, Karim Kobeissy and Ralph Aoun. The reason I went there was because I won a competition after writing a blog post about “reinventing the world” from Lebanon which was selected by a panel of 4 judges of Lebanese origin in top exec positions at silicon valley.
Here’s what happened at each stop

Picture taken by myself [@LeNajib]
As I posted two days, the highest and coolest rooftop in town, The Roof at Four Seasons Beirut, has kicked off its summer season this weekend. The Roof is located on the hotel’s 26th floor and is a great place to chill out after work or on the weekends.

More Dolphins spotted off coast of Jounieh

Those pictures were taken in the past 3 days 5-10 km off the Zouk Power Plant and posted on Virgin Radio Lebanon’s Facebook Page. That’s pretty cool.
