Lebanon among "least peaceful" places

The interactive website www.peacefulcountries.com which has just been nominated for a prestigious Webby Award, aims to show viewers how "peaceful" countries help arm "dangerous" ones.

But if the idea is to challenge stereotypes, setting up a stark visual contrast between the black-and-white scary places (above) and colorful, lush and verdant ones (below) may be doing more harm than good.

Tony Blair Proposes Replacing the Heaven/Hell System With a ‘Third Way’

Tony Blair, left, and ...do you think we're crazy enough to publish a picture of God? Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s recent foray into theology is understood to have angered clerics of various denominations, igniting a row that seems poised to rage for some time. Blair’s success in ending all the earthly conflicts he was tasked with resolving emboldened him to launch an ambitious initiative to reform the Heaven/Hell system, widely adopted by many religions.

This idea was launched today by the Ministry of Energy and Water through the Lebanese Center for Energy Conservation (L.C.E.C). Rita has all the details on this project:

Russian role in Syria will not end when the regime falls

Russian President Vladimir Putin called last week for an end to the carnage in Syria, and strongly advocated negotiations between the parties. This sounded hypocritical from a leader whose country has contributed to the carnage by supplying weapons to President Bashar Al Assad's regime. Perhaps sensing the apparent duplicity, Mr Putin called on Monday for an end to arms supplies to all sides in Syria.

Lebanon’s minorities have Syria in mind

Lebanon’s latest political psychodrama is about whether the deadline for candidacies to the forthcoming parliamentary elections should be extended or suspended. This has produced some strange bedfellows, namely the Lebanese Forces and the Kataeb on the Christian side, and Hezbollah and Amal on the Muslim side.

One Wig Stand: Make The Cut Campaign

I got to know Loryne Atoui and her NGO OneWigStand from TEDxBeirut but then I met Loryne on two occasions, one of which was during the shooting of Min el Ekhir where she was presenting her idea.

When MTV first contacted me and invited me to be a guest on Min el Ekhir, I asked for some time to think this through not because I didn’t like the show, but because I don’t like public appearances. It doesn’t mean that I am shy as I’ve never had a problem talking to a classroom or a group of people, but I am not comfortable with being at the center of attention.

Who’s that impolite lady asking them to go out? Honestly I can’t stop repeating this but I don’t know what people admire about this guy anymore.
